GIS Software Engineer Edinburgh or London

Role Purpose

The company is working on a variety of products. The role holder will be involved in development activities for external and internal technology (including GIS) projects and work closely with technical and business GIS teams.
This will involve:-
Development & Maintenance of GIS products.
Working closely with both the business and technology staff to deliver high quality solutions that remain aligned to the product roadmap and overall technology strategy.
Align to technology and product development policies and best practices
Working with the wider product engineering team to deliver software solutions:-
Collaborate with stakeholders to extract and prioritise requirements.
Translate software requirements into workable programming code.
Maintain and improve existing applications and products.
Ensure any code written conforms to the coding standards and guidelines for development within the group. 
Continue to maintain and improve technical skills and knowledge. 
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
A passion for technology and desire to learn new things is essential.
Significant knowledge and proven experience in the following is critical to success in the role:
Solid development experience in .NET (VB.NET and C#).
Expertise in Esri ArcGIS suite (including Desktop, Pro and ArcGIS Online products).
Working knowledge of ArcGIS Add-In extensibility pattern (ArcObjects.NET SDK ArcGIS Pro.NET SDK)
Experience and Understanding of MVVM, WPF and Asynchronous Development.
Experience of working with SQL / SDE / Enterprise geodatabases.
Appreciation of core principles of GIS and geo-data management.
Ability to collaborate with stakeholders and team in defining and delivering software solutions.
Appreciation of software development lifecycle and build/test automation.
Confident in dealing with stakeholders, client queries and support calls.
Experience with the following would be an advantage but not an essential prerequisite:
Knowledge and Experience of Python / ArcPy.
Experience working with Visual Studio, Team Foundation Server, Git/Bitbucket.
Working within an Agile team and geographically spread teams
Unit testing / Coded UI Testing / TDD practices.
Continuous integration and build automation (Continua CI, Finalbuilder, Teamcity)
Use of web mapping APIs in development of web applications (Opensource, Mapbox, ESRI).
JavaScript, JQuery, React, Node JS, Bootstrap, HTML, CSS.
Opensource geospatial stack.
Degree in computer science, GIS, geography, engineering or a related field or demonstratable hands on experience in relevant technologies.
